For most Americans Halloween and Christmas are the favorite holidays. The stores sell every year lots of stuff like decorations. According to NRF’s 2014 Halloween Consumer Spending Survey the total spending on Halloween costumes this year will reach $ 7.4 billion. Even pets seem to need costumes because Americans spend $ 350 million only for their furry friends.
The popularity of Halloween is still growing. It’s not only that kids go trick or treating, wanting to get their treat bags filled with lots of candy. Also grown-ups love to decorate their houses and get dressed as evil witches, wizards or skeletons.
Also on TV Halloween seems to be everywhere. The Simpsons “Treehouse of Horror” is a series of 25 episodes so far, always containing three scary and spooky stories. This year Bart found a school where he loves to learn and becomes an “A” student. Scary thought for Bart, isn’t it? But this school is in hell and teaches him how to become even more evil-minded.
Though Halloween should be anything but funny, it is often mentioned in various sitcoms. The Big Bang Theory and Two and a half men had Halloween episodes, as well as Modern Family. Trying to be scary can also be pretty funny. Below you’ll find Ty Burrel talking about this year’s Modern Family Halloween episode.
Do you celebrate Halloween too or don’t you get the hype of it at all? Do you have a favorite holiday? Do you love Halloween episodes of your favorite TV show? Please feel free to leave a comment.
